A What of Blackness
KNOWING A WHAT OF BLACKNESS
The students' enthusiasm generated the need for a selection process and it was just a matter of getting hands-on to start the research activity and elaboration of a show for the year 2007. The arduous task of polishing the talents of our students has not cooled off. a moment you want the zeal with which the teacher treated and treats the group. Even being a group linked to a school, the concern with the quality of the show is always present, so it was necessary to look for partners beyond the school walls. It was necessary to count on the support of the Secretary of State for Education, School Direction in the person of the current Director Prof. Genaldo Freitas, School Coordination, Faculty and Students.
The first complete show presented by the group took place at Teatro Atheneu -
"BATUQUES AND DRUMS O CORNER DA SENZALA"
The group's success further increased the group's responsibility to the emerging audience. The need arose to further streamline the group's actions, leading them to broaden their horizons through visits to cultural centers in Bahia, for example - PROJETO ILÊ AIYÊ - in the SENZALA DO BARRO PRETO neighborhood, seeking interaction to improve the research and the elaboration of a new show. The goal was achieved so much that in 2008 another show was produced with the same success as the previous one:
SHOW AT THE THEATER LOURIVAL BATISTA
"A SONG OF FAITH A WARRIOR BLOOD THE SAINTS OF MY NEGREIRO SHIP.
In which there was interaction with the author himself, Altay Veloso, where the researcher and director himself was open to resolve doubts, at which time, through an email interview, he responded via images to students' questions, enriching and deepening knowledge in this way. of the students.
The vivacity, non-conformity of the group's general coordinator, Prof. Clélia Ferreira, in 2009, once again leads to an exchange with another cultural institution in the city of Salvador, PARTICIPATION IN WORKSHOP AT THE PIERRE VERGER FOUNDATION. These activities lead the group to prepare the presented show:
TOBIAS BARRETO THEATER
"GIRA - THE ARUANDA MOVEMENT"
It is noteworthy that the apex of each show is the day of Black Consciousness, making that throughout the year the group performs not only in organs and schools in the capital, but also in interior cities, such as in the city of Santo Amaro, when the teacher was awarded during the cultural meeting with the trophy, an acknowledgment of the work developed, thus promoting the demystification of African-based religions. After four years of project, the group prepares for the year 2010 the show:
"YÁ: BLACK WOMAN, WARRIOR WOMAN"
To be presented once again at the great theater in Aracaju – Teatro Tobias Barreto, thus showing recognition for the grandiose performance of the previous year, where spectators and the press applauded standing up, commenting not only on the plasticity of the show but also on the professionalism from the students.
In 2011 we traveled in the time of the five years of the project's existence, which aims to develop activities that explore the diversity of black culture at the heart of its essence, hoping that this show can help in the reflection and affirmation of our identity. So we created the show for 2011:
"RETROSPECTIVES"
It was presented once again at the great show house in Aracaju – Teatro Tobias Barreto, another show marked by the professional sense of the students, being widely reported in the media as a "perfect show".
After the group's trip to Alagoas in search of expanding our knowledge and developing research and work to set up a show, we couldn't let the story of "Zumbi dos Palmares" go unnoticed, not just its fight for Freedom, but also its love for the warrior Dandara. It will take us to present this year's show 2012:
It was presented once again at the great theater in Aracaju, the Teatro Tobias Barreto, attracting hundreds of people to the theater on Monday. for Dandara as well as for the struggle for freedom.
In 2013, we returned to the stage at Teatro Tobias Barreto, improving our previous show.
"BATUQUES AND DRUMS O CORNER DA SENZALA"
We brought to the stage the origins of drums used since the prehistory of humanity as a means of communication, our audience grows impressively and with that comes the concern to do better and better.
In 2014, in the eighth year of the project, the great Tobias Barreto Theater became small for our large audience, presenting:
"WATERS THE ESSENCE AND THE BALANCE OF A FAITH"
With the Main theme being water, we showed that it plays a central role in different religions and beliefs around the world. As a source of life, it represents birth. Water washes the body and, consequently, purifies it, and these two qualities give it great symbolism. She is therefore a key element in religious ceremonies and rituals. Another year of Casa Cheia, emerging the need for more days on posters to serve the entire public.
In 2015, the ninth year of the project was presented:
"THE AIYÊ: BETWEEN THE MYSTICAL AND THE SACRED"
We focus on laws 11.645/2008 and 10.639/2003, which deal with the mandatory nature of Afro and Indigenous culture in state schools. On stage we show the clash of African and indigenous cultures, when blacks brought by slave ships arrived in Brazil.
In 2016, the group Um Quê de Negritude completed 10 years of its existence and in celebration of its achievements throughout the project, a commemoration was necessary. We brought in one more show presented at the great Tobias Barreto Theater:
Another show presented at the great Tobias Barreto Theater:
"AYEYE: A DECADE OF AFRICANITY IN EDUCATION IN SERGIPA"
In it we brought our story told by the representation of a great name from Sergipe: Arthur Bispo do Rosário, he brought together several aspects that he accumulated over the years, bringing elements already known by the public and new information about African culture through intangible heritage, such as, for example, the frevo, maracatu, capoeira, the capricious ox, guaranteed ox, maculelê and samba, in addition to also bringing elements of indigenous culture.
In 2017, so that the pieces were always renewed, the group constantly sought to delve deeper and deeper into Afro culture. And with that comes the idea of combining fresh and salt water and transforming the theater into a great estuary of beauty and culture, we put on a show at Teatro Tobias Barreto:
"OMIO-OMIRO: WATERS THAT WASH LIFE AND WASH THE SOUL"
It portrays the waters as purifying elements of life, and also addresses African and indigenous religions. Fact It's what, although of the bad weather ever suffered per part from who takes on and develops projects what involve culture, art, avant-garde like challenge against at shapes in oppression and prejudices, in 2017, O job of A What of Blackness arrives The to do one decade and if shows successful, snatching huge audiences in spaces open and closed, like Can it be proven in crazy, in theaters and auditoriums Sergipe people with exhaustion of tickets and maximum capacity.
In 2019, we returned to the stage of Teatro Tobias Barreto with the Show:
"ESIN - WHERE FAITH TEACHES TO LOVE"
On stage, the griot , an old sage who travels the world, tells the stories of his people's past, bringing to future generations the memory of times that never come back. The character carries the mission of making an analysis based on the contribution of the various existing religions, taking Judaism, Christianity, Candomblé and Eastern religions as a point of reference.
The show, which lasts little more than two hours, is composed of a dynamic script of performances of representatives of religions, whose origin goes back to the history of slaves, through the orixás; the Holy Trinity, with the Holy Communion; of the baby Jesus and his apostles; and, it calls the public to reflect on the religious intolerance present today.
